    Chocolate-Chunk Cookies

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • ¾ tsp baking powder
    • â…› tsp baking soda
    • â…› tsp salt
    • ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
    • ¾ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
    • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
    • 1 egg
    • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, cut into ½-inch pieces (about 1½ cups)


    Instructions


    1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.

    2. In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In another bowl, using an electric mixer on high speed, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla until fluffy, about 4 minutes. Beat in the egg. On low speed, add the flour mixture and mix just until incorporated. Mix in the chocolate.

    3. Drop the batter by slightly rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing the mounds 2 inches apart. Bake until golden brown, about 16 minutes. Transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days.

      Makes about 24 cookies
