    Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

    Source of Recipe

From "One-Hour Comfort" by America's Test Kitchen

    Recipe Introduction

"No one will judge you if you turn into Cookie Monster and yell 'Me want cookie!' when you get a look at this gigantic pan cookie. In true Sesame Street style, this enormous cookie is designed for sharing, whether you make like a Muppet and grab wedges with your hands or you act more grown-up and slice and serve it like a tart, with whipped cream or ice cream on top. This recipe, which uses a springform pan, is a lot easier and faster than scooping, baking, and cooling multiple sheets of individual-size cookies. And when it's gone, keep channeling your inner Cookie Monster, who would say, 'No cry because cookie is finished. Smile because cookie happened.' If you don't have a springform pan, you can use a 9-inch round cake pan instead, but you'll have to flip the cookie out of the pan just like you would a cake."

    List of Ingredients

    â—¦ 1 cup all-purpose flour
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon baking soda
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon salt
â—¦ 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
â—¦ ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
    â—¦ ¼ cup granulated sugar
    â—¦ 1 large egg
    â—¦ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    â—¦ ½ cup (3 ounces) chocolate chips

    Recipe

Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat oven to 375 degrees. Spray inside bottom and sides of 9-inch springform pan with vegetable oil spray.

Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together in medium bowl. Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in large bowl until well combined. Add egg and vanilla to butter mixture and whisk until smooth. Add flour mixture to butter mixture and use rubber spatula to stir until just combined and no dry flour is visible, about 1 minute. Add chocolate chips and stir until evenly distributed. Scrape cookie dough into prepared springform pan and spread dough into even layer.

Bake until cookie is golden brown and edges are set, 18 to 22 minutes. Transfer springform pan to cooling rack and let cookie cool in pan for 30 minutes. Run knife around inside edge of springform pan to loosen edges of cookie from pan. Unlock and remove side of pan. Use offset spatula or wide metal spatula to loosen bottom of cookie from pan and transfer cookie to cutting board. Cut into wedges and serve.

    Serves 12
