    My Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

    Source of Recipe

From "Baking: From My Home to Yours" by Dorie Greenspan

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 tsp salt
    • ¾ tsp baking soda
    • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2/3 cup (packed) light brown sugar
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 eggs
    • 12 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped into chips (or 2 cups chocolate chips)
    • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375° F. Line several baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.

    2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking soda, and reserve. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter for about 1 minute, until smooth. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar, and beat for another 2 minutes or so, until well blended. Beat in vanilla extract. Add eggs, one at a time, beating for 1 minute after each addition. Reduce speed to low and add flour mixture in 3 portions, mixing only until each portion is incorporated. On low speed, or by hand using a rubber spatula, mix in chocolate and nuts.

    3. Spoon dough by slightly rounded tablespoonsful onto prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between spoonfuls. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until cookies are brown at edges and golden in center. Remove from oven, cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

      Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
