Coffee House Sundae with Espresso Fudge Sauce

- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp instant espresso powder
- 6 ounces high-quality bittersweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces
- 1 pint coffee ice cream
- 1 pint chocolate or vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Cinnamon, for sprinkling
- 4 coffee beans, raspberries, or cherries for garnish
Instructions
- To make the espresso fudge sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the whipping cream, sugar and espresso powder. Stir until the sugar and espresso powder dissolve. Add the chocolate and continue stirring until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is homogenous. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Place about 2 tablespoons of espresso fudge sauce in the bottom of each of 4 serving dishes. Top each serving with one large or two small scoops of coffee ice cream, and one large or two small scoops of chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Drizzle each sundae with more sauce. Top each with a dollop of whipped cream. Sprinkle each with cinnamon, and garnish with coffee beans, raspberries, or cherries.
Makes 4 sundaes.
