Christmas: Herb Dinner Rolls

- ¾ cup milk
- ¾ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh chives
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 (.25-ounce) packages active dry yeast
- 2 large eggs
- 7¼ cups sifted bread flour, divided
- 14 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted, divided
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine milk, water, sugar, parsley, chives and salt over medium heat and mix in yeast and eggs. In a large bowl, lightly stir together flour and yeast mixture. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Stir in 8 tablespoons melted butter. Add another 1½ cups flour and mix well. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Remove dough from bowl and knead in ¾ cup flour for 3 minutes. Divide dough into 16 equal pieces. Shape into balls and place on lightly greased baking sheets. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400° F.
Remove plastic wrap. Bake rolls for 12 to 15 minutes, or until light brown.
- Remove from oven and brush with remaining 6 tablespoons melted butter.
Makes 16 rolls.
