    Christmas: Whiskey Sauce

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 cup hot cream
    • 4 large egg yolks, beaten
    • Pinch of salt
    • 2 Tbsp whiskey


    Instructions


    1. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

    2. Heat the cream in a medium saucepan until hot but not boiling. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter-sugar mixture, the beaten egg yolks, and the salt. Beat until well blended.

    3. Return the saucepan ot the stove and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick. Stir in the whiskey. Pour into a sauceboat and serve hot with mince pie. This sauce is also great on gingerbread, chocolate cake, baked apples, and apple pies.

      Makes 4 cups.
