"I'm a fan of frozen yogurt, but only if it's homemade. Don't expect this to taste like the frozen yogurt that squirts out of the machine at the airport or a chain shop. That kind is loaded with so much other stuff that any similarity to real yogurt is purely coincidental. Homemade frozen yogurt has a delightful tanginess and is lighter than traditional ice cream. I choose to keep mine pure, relying on good whole-milk yogurt to provide much of the flavor. If you do want to make a denser, richer frozen yogurt, see the variation below that uses Greek yogurt."
List of Ingredients
◦ 3 cups plain whole-milk yogurt
◦ 1 cup sugar
◦ 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Recipe
Mix together the yogurt, sugar, and vanilla. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Chill the mixture for 1 hour in the refrigerator, then freeze it in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Makes about 1 quart
❧ To make Rich Vanilla Frozen Yogurt, substitute 3 cups Greek-style yogurt for half of the plain whole-milk yogurt called for in the recipe and reduce the amount of sugar to cup.
