Grilled Cheese + Apple Sandwich

- 4 slices bread
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons cherry or raspberry jam
- ½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 apple, cored and thinly sliced
Instructions
- Lay out the four slices of bread. Lightly butter one side of each piece of bread, then flip them over. On two slices, spread the Dijon mustard. On the two remaining slices, spread the jam.
- Top the Dijon side of one bread slice with a sprinkling of the cheese, then lay three apple slices over it. Sprinkle on another layer of cheese and top with the bread slice with jam. The jam side should touch the cheese. Repeat with the remaining two bread slices and ingredients.
- In a medium skillet, grill the sandwiches over medium heat until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Flip and grill for another 3 minutes. Cut each sandwich on the diagonal. Serve warm or let cool completely before adding to the bento.
