    Ham Steaks with Irish Whiskey Sauce

    List of Ingredients


    • 4 ham steaks
    • 2 tsp finely chopped onions
    • 1 tsp brown sugar
    • 2 tsp Irish whiskey
    • 1 Tbsp flour
    • 1 Tbsp butter, melted
    • 3/4 cup water or stock
    • Salt and pepper to taste


    Instructions


    1. Brush ham steaks with melted butter. Snip fat to prevent curling, and grill for 7 to 8 minutes on each side.

    2. Saute onions in remainder of butter until cooked. Remove from heat and stir in flour gradually. Add water or stock. Return to heat. Add sugar and bring to a boil. Simmer gently for about 2 minutes to cook flour. If sauce seems a little thick, add more water or stock. Add whiskey and season to taste.

      Place ham steaks on a serving platter and pour the sauce over.
