Recipe Introduction
"The cast-iron skillet browns these delicious rolls to perfection. My family can't get enough. Use whatever pizza toppings your family likes best."
List of Ingredients
â—¦ 1 loaf (1 pound) frozen pizza dough, thawed
â—¦ ½ cup pasta sauce
â—¦ 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, divided
â—¦ 1 cup coarsely chopped pepperoni (about 64 slices)
â—¦ ½ pound bulk Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
â—¦ ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
â—¦ Minced fresh basil, optional
â—¦ Crushed red pepper flakes, optional
Recipe
Preheat oven to 400° F. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 16 by 10-inch rectangle. Brush with the pasta sauce to within ½ inch of the edges.
Sprinkle with ½ cup mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage and Parmesan. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal. Cut into eight slices. Place in a greased 9-inch cast-iron skillet or greased 9-inch round baking pan, cut side down.
Bake 20 minutes; sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese. Bake until golden brown, 5 to 10 minutes more. If desired, serve rolls with minced fresh basil and crushed red pepper flakes.
