    Bearcat Brat Sandwich

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 skinless bratwurst
    • 1 bottle of beer (preferably German lager)
    • Seasoning salt
    • 1/2 medium onion
    • 2 slices bread
    • 1 slice Muenster cheese
    • Mustard


    Instructions


    1. Slice brat lengthwise so you have 3 slices of similar width. Pour enough beer into a small dish to cover the brat. Add seasoning salt to taste, and soak brats in the mixture 5 to 10 minutes. Cut the onion into short strips and set aside.

    2. Preheat grill and put brat slices on one end of the grill. Place onions on the other half of the grill and pour some of the beer-and-seasoning mixture over them. Cook brats several minutes on each side. (You want nice grill marks, but do not let them start to curl too much.)

    3. When brats and onions are ready, put them on one slice of bread and add cheese. Spread your favorite mustard on the other piece of bread and then grill the whole sandwich on the "George" for a minute or so. (Depending on the size of the grill, you can adjust this recipe to make 2 or more brat sandwiches at a time.)

      Makes 1 sandwich.
