Cooking with Too Hot Tamales
List of Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp peanut or canola oil
- 2 medium cloves garlic, peeled and minced or mashed to a paste
- 1 cup golden raisins
- 1 cup unblanched almonds
- 1 cup whole pecans
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 to 1 tsp cayenne
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1-1/2 cups thin pretzel sticks, broken into 1-inch pieces
- Pinch salt
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat the oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Saute the garlic 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the raisins, almonds, pecans, chili powder, cayenne and black pepper, stirring well. Then add the Worcestershire sauce, mixing well. Stir in the pretzels and cook, stirring frequently, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Transfer to a baking sheet. Sprinkle with the salt and sugar and bake, shaking the pan and stirring occasionally, 10 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and cool.
Store in an airtight container until ready to serve.
Makes about 4 cups.
