    Bacon Baked Beans

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 Tbsp butter
    • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
    • 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
    • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
    • 3 Tbsp maple syrup
    • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/4 tsp Louisiana hot sauce
    • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    • 2 tsp yellow mustard
    • 1/4 cup hickory-smoked barbecue sauce
    • 1 (28-ounce) can pork and beans
    • 6 slices bacon


    Instructions


    1. Preheat the oven to 300°F.

    2. In a saucepan melt the butter and sauté the bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Stir in the maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar, mustard, and barbecue sauce, continuing to stir over medium heat until fully integrated.

    3. In a 3-quart baking dish, blend the beans and the heated sauce. Lay the bacon strips on top of the beans and bake, covered, for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue to bake 30 more minutes.

      Makes 10 servings.
