Buttermilk Pie II

- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 heaping tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Dash of ground nutmeg
- 1 (9-inch) frozen deep-dish pie crust, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar together with a hand mixer or in a stand mixer. Add the eggs, and mix well. Mix in the buttermilk, flour, vanilla, salt, and nutmeg.
- Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust, and bake 55 minutes to one hour, or until set. Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing.
Serves 6 to 8
Final Comments
"Don't worry, Buttermilk Pie doesn't taste anything like buttermilk. It's more of a custard pie. And though it has origins in the UK, we lay claim to it here down South."
