    Country Sausage and Gravy

    From "Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House Cookbook"

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound pork sausage, sliced
    • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup water
    • Salt and pepper to taste


    Instructions


    1. In an iron skillet over medium heat brown the sausage slices on both sides. Remove to a hot platter to keep warm.

    2. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of the sausage fat from the skillet. Add the flour and stir with a wire whisk until the flour has browned.

    3. Slowly whisk in the milk and water and cook until the desired thickness. Season to taste. Pour into a warm gravy boat. Serve the sausage and gravy while they are hot.

      Makes 4 servings.
