    Creamy Cream Cheese Grits

    From "Eula Mae's Cajun Kitchen" by Eula Mae Dore

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 quart milk
    • ¼ tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp salt
    • ¼ tsp white pepper
    • ¼ tsp Tabasco pepper sauce
    • 1 cup white quick-cooking grits
    • 4 ounces cream cheese, cut into cubes
    • 4 ounces American or Cheddar cheese, cut into cubes


    Instructions


    1. In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the milk, garlic powder, salt, white pepper, and Tabasco. Heat, stirring slowly and constantly, until the milk just comes to a boil.

    2. Add the grits and stir to mix. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook until the mixture is thick and creamy, 5 to 6 minutes.

    3. Add the cheeses and stir until they melt completely. Serve warm.

      Makes about 12 servings
