Fabulous Fried Okra

List of Ingredients
- 12 okra pods, sliced into ¼-inch slices
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 cup plain cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil
Instructions
- Sprinkle the okra with the water and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper.
Pour the oil to the depth of 1 inch in a large cast-iron skillet and place over medium-high heat. Bring to 350°F.
- Coat the okra in the cornmeal mixture and carefully drop in the hot oil.
Fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
