Fried Green Tomato BLT's with Aïoli Sauce

List of Ingredients
- 1 medium-size green tomato, sliced ¼-inch thick
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 3 strips bacon
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup cornmeal
- 1 tsp Creole seasoning
- Oil, for frying
- 2 slices bread
- 1 Tbsp aïoli sauce
- 2 leaves lettuce
Instructions
- Soak green tomato slices in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Fry bacon, and set aside, retaining grease in the pan.
- Mix flour, cornmeal, and Creole seasoning in a wide, shallow dish.
- Pull tomato slices out of buttermilk, and dredge them in cornmeal mixture. Fry tomato slices in oil over medium heat until golden brown on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes per side; drain on paper towels.
- Spread bread with aïoli sauce. Top with tomatoes and lettuce.
