    Fried Green Tomato BLT's with Aïoli Sauce

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 medium-size green tomato, sliced ¼-inch thick
    • ½ cup buttermilk
    • 3 strips bacon
    • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
    • ¼ cup cornmeal
    • 1 tsp Creole seasoning
    • Oil, for frying
    • 2 slices bread
    • 1 Tbsp aïoli sauce
    • 2 leaves lettuce


    Instructions


    1. Soak green tomato slices in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.

    2. Fry bacon, and set aside, retaining grease in the pan.

    3. Mix flour, cornmeal, and Creole seasoning in a wide, shallow dish.

    4. Pull tomato slices out of buttermilk, and dredge them in cornmeal mixture. Fry tomato slices in oil over medium heat until golden brown on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes per side; drain on paper towels.

    5. Spread bread with aïoli sauce. Top with tomatoes and lettuce.

      Serves 1
