Spicy Candied Pecans

- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg white
- 1 pound pecan halves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- Pinch of ground cloves
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar and egg white. Add the pecans and toss to combine. In a small bowl, stir together the salt, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and cloves. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the nuts and toss well.
- Spread the nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake, tossing occasionally, until the nuts are fragrant and almost dry to the touch, about 30 minutes. Put these out in pretty bowls when company comes round.
Makes about 5 cups.
