    Recipe Introduction

The first time I made this chili I used cubed buffalo steak and ground buffalo-burger, and when I put the shrimp in the pot my friends thought I was nutz....I mean who ever heard of shrimp in chili. Try it, you'll like it....Mikey did.

    List of Ingredients

    The Meats:
    1-1/2 lbs cubed beef
6 large links italian hot sausage, sliced 1/2" thick
    3 lbs hamburger

    The Saute:
1 cup chopped shallots or red onions
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 tbsp butter

    Flavor Enhancements:
    1 14oz can diced tomatoes
1 29 oz can tomato sauce
    1 long neck beer (16oz)
    2 tsp liquid smoke
    2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
    2 tbsp chili powder
    2 tbsp ground red pepper
1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
    2 tsp oregano
    1 tsp thyme
    1 tsp basil

    Secret Ingredient:
1 lb fresh shrimp, coarsely chopped. Or 1 pound salad shrimp, left whole.

    Recipe

    Method:

Brown the beef cubes and the sausage together in a covered frying pan for 10-15 minutes.

Remove the meat from the pan with a slotted spoon and put in a crockpot.

Add the burger to the frying pan with the juice from the beef and sausage. Brown the burger and drain off the fat.
    Add to the crockpot.

Saute the shallots/red onion and the garlic in the butter and add to the crockpot.

Add the diced tomato, tomato sauce and other ingredients (except the shrimp) to the crockpot and mix well.

Cook on high for 4-5 hours.

Add the shrimp and cook for 15 minutes more.
