    Fresh Orange Layer Cake

    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 c.sugar
    2 t. baking powder
    1/4 t. soda
    1 t. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 t. orange zest
    1 c. liquid (1/4 c. unstrained orange juice and 3/4 c. water or milk)
    2 eggs

    Recipe



    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt
    Add shortening and orange zest. Ad 2/3 of liquid and beat for 2 minutes. Add remaining liquid and eggs and beat for 2 minutes. Put in 2 8" layer pans. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
