    3 cups water
    3 cups milk
    1 teaspoons salt
    1 teaspoon white pepper
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 1/2 cups white grits (NOT instant or Quick Cooking)
    1 roll garlic cheese

    1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and slightly butterflied
    1 tbsp bacon grease
    1 tbsp butter
    1 red pepper chopped
    1 onion, chopped
    1 large tomato, diced
    1 stalk celery
    Heavy cream about 1/3 cup, just to make a little sauce
    Salt and pepper to taste




    Recipe




    In a large saucepan, over medium heat, combine the water, milk, salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon of the butter. Bring the liquid to a gentle boil. Stir in the grits. Cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. (**The grits will stick to the bottom of the pan, so make sure not to scrape the bottom of the pan. If the grits absorbed all of the water, add some hot water to thin out the grits.) Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon butter and cheese.

    Saute veggies in bacon grease and butter about 5 minutes. Add shrimp and continue stirring till shrimp are done about 3-5 minutes. Add tomatoes and cream. Cook about 5 minutes more or until heated thoroughly!

    About 4 servings.
