    If you like, you can mix some powdered sugar with
    just enough milk to make a drizzling
    consistency, and drizzle this icing over the baked turnovers.

    List of Ingredients





    Makes 12.



    2 cups flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup shortening
    3 to 4 tablespoons ice water
    1-1/2 cups fruit filling (canned filling or cut-up fresh fruit tossed
    with a little sugar)

    Preheat oven to 400
    degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets or line with
    parchment paper. Sift together flour, baking powder,
    sugar, and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender
    or fork. Mixing with fork, add enough ice water to
    hold mixture together. Divide dough into 12
    equal pieces. On a lightly floured board, roll each
    piece into a 4-inch circle. Put 2 tablespoons filling
    in the center. Moisten edges of circle; fold over to
    make crescent-shaped turnovers. Seal edges by pressing
    with a fork. Bake 20 minutes.
