    Sweet and Sour Pork

    List of Ingredients

    Ribs, boneless pork and even strips of chicken breast meat can be used:
    1 cup brown sugar
    2/3 cup vinegar
    5 tsp. soy sauce
    6 tbsp. ketchup
    2 1/2 cups water
    2-3 tbsp. cornstarch dissolved in approx. 1/4 cup water

    Recipe

    Mix sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup and water together. Bring to a boil. Thicken with cornstarch mixture and simmer for 5 minutes. A can of sweet and sour sauce can be added if desired. Stir well until mixed. Roast ribs until brown. I like to sprinkle with ginger to taste while cooking. Remove ribs and rinse pan, then return to pan. Pour sauce over ribs and simmer for 1 hour at 250 degrees (the longer the more tender)

    Variations: Red or green pepper, canned or fresh mushrooms, celery slices, sliced onion or green onions can be added just before serving. Serve with steamed rice and/or stir fried vegetables.
