Peppermint Patty Brownies

Bits of chocolate covered peppermint candy make our rich one pot brownies burst with flavor.
List of Ingredients
1 cup butter or margerine
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
12 small chocolate covered peppermint cream candies, unwrapped, quartered about 1 cup
1/4 tsp. peppermintextract
1 can (16oz) milk chocolate frosting
additional candies, optional
Recipe
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line 8 inch square cake pan with enough foil to overhang sides. In pot over low heat combine butter and chocolate, heat, stirring, until smooth. Remove from heat, stir in sugar. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt.
Spread half of batter in pan, sprinkle with quartered candies. Top with remaining batter, spreading gently. Bake until beginning to crack on top, one hour.
Cool completely in pan on rack. Use foil to lift brownies from pan. Remove foil. Stir pepperminet extract into frosting, spread over brownies. Garnish with additional candies, if desired.
