    List of Ingredients

    6 cups flour
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 tablespoon salt
    2 1/4 cups water
    1/4 cup butter or margarine
    2 packages yeast

    Recipe

Combine 2 cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in big bowl. Heat water and butter until very warm(120-130*) (Barbara states "simply run hot water out of faucet, add melted butter, works every time, dont have thermometer!..lol") Add to dry ingredients, stirring well. Gradually stir in remaining 4 cups of flour to make soft dough.

Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. Cover and let rest on a lightly floured surface ( I just leave it in its bowl) Divide dough into two, roll each half out to 12 x 8 inch rectangle. Beginning with short sides, roll up tightly as a jelly roll. Pinch seams and ends to seal. Place
loaves, seams down, in a greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans. Cover and let rise in a warm, draft-free place until
dough doubles in size(about an hour) Bake at 375* for 30-35 minutes or until done. Remove from pans and let cool on wire rack.
