    Recipe Introduction

I like to add the peaches or pears to my apple pie. It give a little extra flavor and is not so boring.

    List of Ingredients

    6 – 8 Golden Delicious Apples
1 large can peaches or pears
    ½ cup sugar
    1 tbsp. flour
    cinnamon, to taste
    1/2 cup apple sauce
2 deep dish frozen pie shells

    Recipe

Peel and cut up apples in thin slices. Cut up peaches or pears in thin slices. Blend together. Add sugar, flour and cinnamon. Add apple sauce and put all in a pot over medium/low heat and cook til tender.

Bake 1 pie shell, poked several times with a fork on the bottom, for 15 – 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Remove baked pie shell.

Fill baked pie shell to the top with apple/peach mixture and cover with second unbaked pie shell. Poke the top of unbaked pie shell with fork to make a design. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Cool and enjoy.

(Any left-over fruit you can put in a zip lock plastic bag and freeze. Now it’s ready to use for your next pie.)

    EXTRA TIPS FROM ALTON BROWN:

Mix apples with sugar and then put in collander and put collander over bowl to catch apple juice. Leave for 1 1/2 hours. Boil juice in pot til reduces to 2 tbsps. Brush on top of top crust for fabulous flavor!

Also add apple butter and apple cider to apple mixture.
