    SLUM STEW

    Source of Recipe

    Grandma

    Recipe Introduction

What a terrible name for a stew! LOL But that's what it's called. This recipe came from my Grandma, so it's very old.

    List of Ingredients

    2 lbs. ground beef
    1 onion, chopped
    Salt and pepper, to taste
    1 tsp. garlic
    1/2 tsp. chili powder
    1/2 tsp. cumin
    5 large baking potatoes
2 large cans tomato sauce OR
    1 jar of Spaghetti Sauce
    1 1/2 cups water
    1 large can kidney beans

    Recipe

Brown ground beef with onions, garlic, salt and pepper. Add chili powder and cumin. Drain grease and set aside. Peel potatoes and cut into medium sized pieces. Boil potatoes until almost done. Drain.

Combine ground beef, kidney beans, sauce and water; cook over low heat. Add potatoes and cook until potatoes are done.

This recipe came from Grandma. She used to put a large can of tomatoes in the pot. When Mom started making this stew for Dad, she used tomato sauce or Spaghetti Sauce instead of the tomatoes because Dad liked it that way.
