    1 cup rice
    1 small can tomato sauce
    ¼ cup bacon grease or veg oil
    2 cups water
    garlic, to taste
    ½ cup carrots, optional
    salt, to taste
    ½ cup peas, optional
    cumin, to taste

    Recipe



    Fry the rice in the bacon grease for a few minutes, until the rice starts to get "clear". Add the garlic and saute for a minute. Add cumin and salt. Add the tomato sauce. Add water. At this point you can add thinly sliced carrots and peas. Cover, turn heat down to low, cook for about 20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. Don't take the lid off for the first 15-20 minutes.

    Serves 4

    If you don’t have any tomato sauce in the house, try about ½ can of tomato soup. In fact, I like it better with the tomato soup.
