    Awesome Apple Pie

    Recipe Introduction

This is the best apple pie I've made. I tried Granny Smith apples with it and although they are really good, the Golden Delicious is much better. The filling is pre-cooked before the pie is put in the oven, making it much better!

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 cup apple juice
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup butter (one stick)
6 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored and sliced
    1/2 cup white sugar
    2 tablespoons cornstarch
1-2 tsps cinnamon (can add nutmeg also if desired)
2 (9")unbaked pie crusts (follow directions for pricking)

(I recommend the Pillsbury kind that you unroll in the refrigerated section of your grocer, or if you are a good pie crust maker - make your own)

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Combine the apple juice, 1/2 cup white sugar and the butter in a medium sized sauce pan and heat until melted. Add the apples and cook until fruit is tender.

Combine 1/2 cup of the sugar with the cornstarch and cinnamon. Stir into the fruit mixture, then cook until thickened. Cool then pour into the prepared pie shell. Cover with the top crust and seal. Make sure to make a couple of slits in the top for steam to escape. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on the crust, if desired.

Put pie on a round pizza pan or other baking pan. (If you don't, you will be sorry!!!! Some of the juices will "pour" out into the pan and it will get messy.) Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) until golden brown, 35-45 min.
