    I created this recipe for my friend's wedding when one of the cake layers fell apart. So instead of throwing it out, this trifle was born. It was a hit!
    I recently made it for a retirement tea and it was a bigger hit than the sheet cake. I originally made it with a "from scratch" recipe, but a boxed mix works just as well.


    List of Ingredients




    18 1/4 ounces German chocolate cake mix
    1- 3.5oz instant butterscotch pudding mix
    2 cups milk
    8 ounces whipped topping
    1- 8oz can flaked coconut
    1 cup pecan halves

    Recipe



    1. Bake cake mix according to package directions. Let cool. Cut into 1" cubes.
    2. Mix butterscotch pudding mix and milk according to package directions. Fold in whipped topping and gently mix until well blended.
    3. In trifle bowl, place half of cubed cake in bottom. Top with half of the pudding mixture. Sprinkle half of coconut and half of pecans on mixture.
    4. Repeat steps.
    5. Chill before serving.
