    Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Makes about 5 dozen cookies - also gets out your aggressions!

    1 cup butter, softened
    3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    3/4 cup walnut pieces
1 pkg (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chip morsels

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Cream together butter, sugars, and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt; finally, stir in nuts and chocolate.

Drop dough onto ungreased cookie sheet by rounded tablespoons, about 2 inches apart. Bake 10 minutes, or until light golden brown.

Now here is the strange part, but this makes them chewy, fudgey, and irresistable -- SMASH the cookies (gently) with the back of a large spatula! This flattens them slightly and keeps them from rising and becoming dry... really, it works - try it.

Cool slightly and remove from cookie sheet.
