    Chocolate Banana Cake

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
    • 1 C. unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 3/4 C. superfine sugar
    • 3 jumbo eggs
    • 3 C. unbleached flour
    • 2 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
    • 3 mashed bananas
    • 2/3 C. buttermilk
    • 1 T. pure vanilla
    • 1 C. pecans, chopped


    1. Melt chocolate squares in the microwave and set aside to cool.

    2. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well with a mixer. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    3. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with banana, buttermilk and melted chocolate, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and pecans.

    4. Spoon battr into 3 greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove layers from pans and let cool completely. Frost with chocolate buttercream frosting.
