    Kaiserhof Cole Slaw

    Source of Recipe

    Kaiserhof in New Ulm, Minnesota

    Recipe Introduction

This is the cole slaw that is served with the famous ribs at the Kaiserhof. It's been made the same way for years! One tip - use a head of cabbage rather than the store bought preshredded cabbage.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 head of cabbage
    • Salt
    • Cup of sugar (scant)
    • 1/2 cup white vinegar
    • 1/2 cup of water

    Instructions

    1. Shred the head of cabbage fairly fine. Again do not buy preshredded cabbage.
    2. Soak the shredded cabbage in salted water. (Fairly salty)
    3. Place the cabbage in the salted water in the fridge overnight.
    4. The next day mix together the sugar, white vinegar and water.
    5. Boil these three items and keep them boiling for 1 minute.
    6. Cool the vinegar mixture to room temp.
    7. While cooling squeeze out all the water from the cabbage.
    8. Now add the vinegar mixture to the shredded almost dry cabbage.
    9. Place back in the fridge for at least two or three hours. (longer is okay)
    10. Serve

    Final Comments

Great summer side for BBQ or picnic.
