    Best Apple Pie - Sugar Free

    Recipe Introduction


    This is the best apple pie we have ever eaten. If you don't want to make it sugar-free, use 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar and 1/3 cup granulated sugar instead of Splenda.


    List of Ingredients


    • 8 cups pared, cored, sliced apples *See note below
    • 2/3 cup Splenda
    • 2 tablespoons flour
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 pkg. refrigerated pie crusts
    • 2 tablespoons butter


    Instructions


    1. Place apples in a large bowl. Add Splenda, flour and spices. Mix up a little and let stand while you get your crust ready.
    2. Put your bottom pie crust into a 10" pie plate (you can use 9" and apples will be heaped higher). Put apple mixture into dish and dot with butter. Put top crust on and crimp edges and make a few vents in top of crust for steam to come out.
    3. Bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes. Cover edges of crust so they don't brown too much. If you see that it is getting too brown all over, put a piece of foil loosely over pie.


    Final Comments


    I like to use a mixture of apples. Preferred is Rome Beauty, McIntosh, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious. Probably will need a couple large apples of each to get your 8 cups.
