    Recipe Introduction


    This recipe is really good and filling. The left-overs reheat well too.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 lb. ground beef
    • 1 cup chopped onion
    • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
    • ¼ teaspoon pepper
    • 1 garlic clove, minced
    • 2 cups uncooked noodles
    • 1 cup (4 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • Cheese Sauce
    • 3 tablespoons margarine
    • 3 tablespoons flour
    • 1½ cups milk
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup (4 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese


    Instructions


    1. In a skillet, cook beef and onion until meat is brown and onion is tender; drain.
    2. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, oregano, pepper and garlic.
    3. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
    4. Meanwhile, cook noodles; drain.
    5. Combine noodles, cheese and egg; set aside.
    6. For cheese sauce, melt butter in a heavy saucepan.
    7. Stir in flour
    8. Stir in milk
    9. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until smooth and thickened.
    10. Remove from heat and stir in salt and cheese.
    11. Spoon half of noodle mixture in bottom of 13 x 9-in. pan.
    12. Cover with meat mixture.
    13. Top with remaining noodles.
    14. Spread cheese sauce over the top.
    15. Bake at 350°, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
    16. Let stand 5-10 minutes before cutting.
