    BETTY'S BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING

    List of Ingredients


    • 4-6 slices of stale bread cut into quarters
    • 4 eggs and enough milk to cover them
    • 1 cup castor sugar
    • 1 cup sultanas
    • Butter or margarine
    • Strawberry, Raspberry or Apricot Jam


    Instructions


    1. Whisk milk and eggs, then add sugar and add until it has dissolved.
    2. Pour into a greased shallow baking dish.
    3. Place 2-3 layers of bread quarters into the mixture, sprinkling with sultanas in between layers of bread.
    4. Dot the top with knobs of butter and teaspoons of jam.
    5. Bake until golden and firm (about 3/4 hour.)


    Final Comments


    Lovely served with cream or ice-cream
