    Almond Shortbread Sticks

    1½ cup all-purpose flour
    ½ cup sifted powdered sugar
    2/3 cup butter
    2 tablespoon finely chopped ginger candied
    ¼ cup finely chopped sliced almonds
    1 tablespoon granulate sugar

    Recipe

    In a medium bowl stir together flour and powdered sugar. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs and start to cling. Stir in candied ginger. Form mixture into a ball; knead gently in bowl until smooth. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 14x6” rectangle ¼” thick. In a bowl, stir together almonds, cherries and granulated sugar. Sprinkle evenly over dough; press in lightly. Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut into 20-6½” strips. Place about ½” apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 18 minutes or until bottoms of cookies just start to brown. Cool on sheet 5 minutes. Transfer to wire racks and let cool.
