Gingerbread Cookies

½ cup shortening
2½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup molasses
1 egg
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
Recipe
In mixing bowl, beat shortening with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half of the flour, the sugar, molasses, egg, vinegar, baking powder and soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Beat until thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Cover and chill for 3 hours to until easy to handle. Divide the chilled dough in half. On a lightly flour surface, roll half of dough at a time to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with a 2½” cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on a tin foiled lined cookie sheet. Bake for 5-6 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
