List of Ingredients
6 cups fresh medium, ripe strawberries, capped and washed
¾ cup sugar
3-tablespoon cornstarch
5 drops red food coloring, optional
1 9” baked pie shell
Recipe
Glaze:
In a small saucepan, crush 1 cup of the smaller berries; add 1-cup water. Bring to a boil and simmer 2 minutes. Sieve berry mixture. In a saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; stir in sieved berry mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and clear. Stir in red food coloring.
Pie:
Spread about ¼ cup (+/-) of the glaze over the bottom and sides of the baked pie shell. Arrange half of the whole strawberries, stem side down, in the pastry sell. Carefully spoon half of remaining glaze over berries, thoroughly covering each berry. Arrange berries stem side down, atop first layer; spoon on remaining glaze, thoroughly covering exposed berries. Chill at least 3-4 hours. Garnish with cool whip, chocolate shavings and curls.
