The Plager brothers were the Darlings of the early days of the St Louis Blues in the late 60's and 70's...what diehard fan doesn't remember yelling your guts out at the Stanley Cup Playoffs...I do!!!. at one time they owned a restaurant in Maryland Heights, a suburb of St. Louis...the first time I tasted Crab Rangoon... Bob went on to become a coach and later rejoined the blues as Director of Player Development.. each year he takes his wife someplace she's never been before...the kitchen
1 beef brisket
2/3 cup catsup
1 Tab Brown Sugar
1 Tab red wine vinegar
1 tsp Kitchen Bouquet seasoning
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 Tab Flour
6 large peeled onions, halved
Season Brisket with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika...brown on both sides under oven broiler. Put in roaster with onions and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours...make sauce and pour on top...cover and bake another 1 1/2 hours...slice when cool...makes great sandwiches..
Bob Plager’s Apple Crisp
8 apples
1 tsp cinnamon
grated nutmeg
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/3 cup plus butter
fill casserole with peeled sliced apples, water and spices mix the rest into crumbles and top the apples.. bake at 350 degrees for one hour... this goes in the oven along with Idaho potatoes to be baked with the Brisket the last hour...
