Cranberry Upside Down Cake

2 cans whole cranberry sauce, 4 cups
Break up in a buttered 13x9 baking dish. Spread on bottom and dot with 3 Tab butter.
1 package yellow cake mix.
Make batter according to directions and pour evenly over the cranberries.
Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. To serve, cut into squares and turn upside down onto a plate and pass the warm sauce..
Sauce:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 cup cold water
1 Tab cornstarch
1 tsp white vinegar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Cream butter, gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Stir water into cornstarch. Cook and stir until clear and thick. Stir hot mixture into creamed mixture. Add vinegar and vanilla. Serve warm. Makes 1 2/3 cup
