    This is a third generation recipe, frequently used as a substitute for Pecan Pie.


    3/4 cup quick cooking oatmeal
    3/4 cup sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 cup waffle syrup
    1/4 cup melted butter
    2 eggs well beaten
    1 tsp vanilla

    Mix all and stir in
    1/2 cup coconut
    1/2 cup chopped nuts

    Pour into an unbaked deep pie shell and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, should be a bit firm.
