The recipe has been passed down through the family since the 1920's when the steak had to be tenderized before using..
1 lb. round steak cut in 1" cubes..
toss with 4 Tab. flour, set aside..
preheat oven to 350 degrees.
butter a casserole dish..
add to the beef..
2 cups diced carrot
1/2 cup diced celery
2 Tab. chopped onion
1 cup cooked rice
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
mix with floured meat and fill casserole..
dot with 3 Tab butter
pour on top, 2 cups boiling water..
bake, covered 1 1/2 hours..
uncover and bake 15 minutes longer until browned. Serve from casserole..
