Kathy's Old Time Bread Pudding

1/2 cup sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2 cups cream, or half and half
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. cinnamon
8 cups stale/dry bread, quartered or cubed (2 croissants and any other variety of bread)
1/2 cup raisins, re-hydrated
Cinnamon Sugar = 4 tsp sugar and 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Re-hydrate raisins in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes, drain and set aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Butter a 9x13 pan.
In large bowl, mix together eggs and sugar.
Mix in cream, vanilla, cinnamon and salt.
Place quarters of bread in buttered pan and sprinkle raisins over top.
Pour liquid mixture over all.
Sprinkle cinnamon sugar topping over and dot liberally with butter.
Bake at 350 for 30 mins. or until inserted knife comes out clean.
Turn heat up to 450 for 7 minutes to make top crust crispy.
