    Sour Cream Donuts

    SOUR-CREAM OVEN DOUGHNUTS


    2 cups buttermilk baking mix, such as Bisquick
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1 egg
    1/2 cup sugar
    Melted butter
    1 teaspoon cinnamon


    Topping:
    1 cup confectioners' sugar
    1 tablespoon milk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla


    Mix together baking mix, sugar, nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, sour
    cream and egg until soft dough forms. Smooth dough gently into a ball
    on a floured, cloth-covered board.


    Knead 10 times. Roll dough 1/2-inch thick. Cut with floured 2
    1/2-inch doughnut cutter. Lift doughnuts carefully with spatula and
    place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.


    Bake about 8 to 10 minutes at 425 degrees until golden brown.


    Mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Immediately brush entire
    doughnut with melted butter; dip in sugar mixture, coating all sides.


    If desired, spread with a creamy glaze made by mixing confectioners'
    sugar, milk and vanilla.
