Pecan Tarts w/ Cream Cheese Crust

    Recipe Introduction

    Pecan Butter Tarts

Recipe from June Hostetler of Attica, Mich. Hostetler says the cream
cheese pastry gives it a good taste. "I make these each Christmas.
    They freeze beautifully!"

    1 3-ounce package cream cheese
    1 stick butter (or margarine)
    1 cup flour, sifted

    Filling:

    1 egg
    3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon soft butter (or margarine)
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    Dash salt
    2/3 cup chopped pecans

Let a 3-ounce package of cream cheese and 1 stick of butter or
margarine soften to room temperature; then cream together and add 1
    cup of sifted flour.

Shape into 24 1-inch balls. Place in mini-greased muffin tins and
shape the dough to the bottom and side of the cups.

For the filling: beat egg, add brown sugar, soft butter or margarine,
    vanilla, salt and chopped pecans.

Beat together; fill each little cup 3/4 full and bake for 25 minutes
at 350 degrees. When cool remove from pans.

    Makes 24 tarts.
