    List of Ingredients

    1 pkg. active dry yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    3 c. buttermilk, room temperature
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. melted butter
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    8 c. flour
    additional melted butter

    Recipe

Crumble yeast into warm water in large mixing bowl; stir to dissolve. Add buttermilk and sugar. Let stand 15 mins. Add warm butter and eggs, mix. Sift baking soda and salt with 4 c. flour; add to liquid mixture. Beat until a smooth batter forms. Add remaining flour, stirring with a spoon until dough is no longer sticky. Knead on a floured board; place in a large greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover; let rise until doubled, about an hour. Punch dough down; form into buns (squeeze dough into balls the size of an egg). Place on a greased baking sheet; flatten slightly with hand. Let rise until doubled, about 30 mins. Bake at 400 for 15-20 mins or until light golden brown. remove to cooling rack and brush tops with melted butter.
