    Italian Sausage 1

    List of Ingredients

    3 # ground turkey
    1 T beef soup base*
    1/2 C water
    1T salt
    1 t freshly ground black pepper
    2 T ground fennel **
    1/2 t garlic (either minced or garlic juice)
    1/2 t crushed red pepper seeds
    1/2 C canola oil



    Recipe

    Mix beef base with the water and add it and the oil to the ground turkey. Mix well. Combine the seasonings with the turkey mixture. Use hands to make sure it is well incorporated. Measure out 1/2 C of the meat mixture (approximately 1/4 #) and shape into
    patties. Place on a cookie sheet sprayed with no-stick spray and bake @ 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove them from the tray and cool.
    The sausage is now ready to be finished by cooking with sauteed onions & bell peppers for sandwiches or put up in freezer bags and frozen for future use. You can also use this recipe to make sausage meatballs for
    spaghetti sauce & meatball sandwiches and in the stuffing for mushroom appetizers.
    * you can substitute canned beef broth
    ** ground fennel can be hard to find. You can just grind whole fennel seeds in a coffee grinder or with a mortar and pestle.
