    Authentic Hungarian Chicken Paprikas

    List of Ingredients




    2 onions, chopped
    4 T shortening, or oil or lard
    3 T Hungarian Paprika
    1/8 t black pepper
    2 t salt
    4-5# cut up chicken (or chicken breasts, w/bone & skin ok)
    1 1/2 c water
    8 oz sour cream
    1 T butter
    1 T flour

    Recipe



    Brown onions. Add seasonings and chicken. Brown 10 minutes.
    Add water, cover and let simmer slowly until tender.
    Remove chicken.
    Add sour cream to drippings in pan and mix well.
    To thicken, mix butter with flour and stir into drippings.
    Add dumplings and arrange chicken on top. Heat through. DO NOT BOIL.
